Superb French antique all capped mother of pearl and silver rosary with Stanhope heart, late 19th - early 20th century. 59 carved mother of pearl beads have been double-capped in decorative silver cupules, joined by a Sacred Heart center medal with a Stanhope optical viewer depicting an elaborate Communion scene. The image was a challenge to photograph; with the naked eye, the scene is bright and filled with silver, glittering detail. The large crucifix is also of mother of pearl and silver, adorned with a sparkling rhinestone.

The cross and heart have both been hallmarked for silver (800). Condition is very good with normal wear; there are no blemishes to speak of. Measurements are as follows: Length of rosary 54.5 cms or 21.5 inches Length of cross 49 mms. Diameter of beads 10.5 and 7.5-8 mms.
